Shocking incident in Bucharest traffic: a STB driver was threatened with a gun by a young man. The aggressor was detained
A serious traffic incident took place in Bucharest: the driver of a Mercedes car threatened with a gun the driver of a Bucharest Transport Company (STB) bus, following a spontaneous conflict.
The incident happened at the intersection of Ion Mihalache Boulevard with Banu Manta Boulevard, on the way to Piața Domenii. Everything would have started from an irregular maneuver in traffic, which quickly degenerated into an altercation.
“On April 25, 2026, police officers from the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest – Police Section 4 caught red-handed and detained a 26-year-old man, investigated in a criminal case regarding the commission of threatening crimes and disturbing public order and peace“, the Capital Police reported.
The 4th Police Department was informed about the fact that, in an area of Sector 1, the driver of a bus was threatened in traffic, with a weapon, by another driver.

The police team that rushed to the scene found that the reported issues are confirmed.
“Thus, the priority being the safety and protection of the citizens, as well as a possible victim, the police immediately started the specific activities, and shortly after, a 26-year-old man, suspected of having committed the act, was detected in the vicinity of a building“, stated the policemen.
The car he was driving was also in the area. Later, near the place of detection, in the yard of an abandoned building, the weapon used, thrown by the suspect, was identified. It is a gun with a gas cylinder and fed with glass balls.
At the same time, specific accessories were identified in the car, namely a box inside which there were three gas cylinders and a box containing approximately several glass balls.
The 26-year-old man was taken to the headquarters of the subunit for questioning.
From the evidence administered in the case it emerged that, “on the mentioned date, around 7:00 p.m., while the suspect was driving the car, at an intersection in Sector 1, amid a spontaneous conflict in traffic, with the driver of a bus, generated by an irregular maneuver, the man allegedly blocked his movement, then got out of the car, moved towards the bus and displayed aggressive behavior, hitting the window with his fist and threatening the driver”.
“The suspect took out a gun, which he would have exposed, for the purpose of intimidation, actions carried out publicly. Thus, he would have generated a state of fear, both for the injured person and for travelers and citizens in the vicinity”the Police also sent.
Based on the evidence administered, the person in question was detained for 24 hours.
Later, house arrest was ordered against him.
“Investigations are being continued by police officers from the 4th Police Department, under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the 1st District Court, in terms of the commission of threatening crimes and the disturbance of public order and peace“, the Capital Police also transmitted.
