Former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, sentenced on September 11 to 27 years in prison for a coup attempt, has skin cancer, announced one of his doctors, AFP reports.

A biopsy of skin lesions has detected “a squamous cell carcinoma”, “a type of skin cancer that can have more serious consequences,” Dr. Claudio Birinini told the press.

Being under house arrest since the beginning of August, Jair Bolsonaro, 70, was discharged on Wednesday afternoon in a private clinic in Brasilia, where he had been admitted the day before, after he felt bad.

Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced to 27 years in prison for a coup attempt, at the end of a historical trial, despite the intense pressures exerted by the US President Donald Trump, in his favor, notes AFP.

The former head of state-of-the-art state (2019-2022) was convicted for leaving a coup plot to stay in power, after losing the elections of 2022 in front of the current president, Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva.
