The European allies of Ukraine reiterated on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump on Wednesday whose fulfillment they consider necessary for a peace agreement with Russia, a message sent to a video conferencing meeting with a group of European leaders with Trump before the summit that he will have on Friday in the city of Anchorage in Alaska Reuters.

In order for this summit to lead to acceptable results for all, it must be clear that Ukraine will be at the negotiation table at potential subsequent discussions, said in a press conference in Berlin after discussing with Trump, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, talking to Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski.

“We want the negotiations to take place in the correct order. First, a cessation of fire is needed,” Merz said in Zelenski's assent, while the Russian army is growing more and more in eastern Ukraine, notes Agerpres.

Then, the essential elements must be agreed in a framework agreement, continued the German Chancellor.

The condition of Ukrainian territories

The third condition concerns territorial issues.

“Ukraine is prepared to negotiate on territorial issues. However, the so-called contact line (front line, no) must be the starting point, and the legal recognition of the Russian occupation does not come into question. The principle that borders cannot be changed by force must continue to be applied,” Merz said.

Fourth, he asked for “robust security guarantees” for Ukraine and further supporting its military ability to defend itself.

Finally, any future negotiations must be part of a “common transatlantic strategy”, the German Chancellor concluded the list of European Trump requests.

If Russia does not make concessions to the Alaska summit, “then the US and we, the Europeans, have to increase the pressure” on Moscow, Merz said, according to which “President Trump knows this position and mostly shares it.”

“If the US now works in the direction of a peace in Ukraine, which defends European and Ukrainian interests, he (Trump) can count on our full support in this effort,” concluded the German Chancellor, at the initiative of which the video conferencing was attended by the heads of state or government in France, UNIT, UNIT, Poland Der Leyen, president of the European Council, Antonio Costa, NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, as well as Ukrainian president Volodimir Zelenski.

European leaders have intensified their contacts and reactions in support of Ukraine, trying to approach European President Donald Trump, before the summit he will have with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Moscow's requirements rejected by Kyiv

Russia has so far asked Ukraine to officially give up the four regions partially controlled by the Russian army (Donetk, Lugansk, Zaporojie and Herson), as well as the Crimea Peninsula annexed in 2014, to give up the aspiration of NATO accession and to reduce its military capabilities.

These conditions were described by Ukraine as unacceptable and demanded the full withdrawal of Russian troops from its territory, as well as Western security guarantees, including continuing weapons and, as a substitute in the absence of NATO, the conduct of a European military contingent on the Ukrainian territory, which was conducted.

According to the American press, Russia would have proposed before the Putin-Trump summit to stop the offensive along the current front line in the provinces of Zaporojie and Herson, located in the southeast and southern Ukraine, and withdraw their troops from the provinces of Dnipropetrovsk (Center), Sumî (North) and Kharkov Donbas, respectively on Donetsk and Luhansk provinces in eastern Ukraine.

Luhansk province is the only one that the Russian army has managed to occupy almost completely, while part of Donetk is still under Ukrainian control.
