Cordell Tinch has traveled a long way to become a world-class athlete, but he has crowned a second superb season as a professional, winning the 110 m fences at the World Championships, on another hot evening at Tokyo.
The 25 -year -old American has demonstrated control and speed, passing impeccably over the 10 fences and resisting the quick attack of the competitors at the end, to win the title with a time of 12.99 seconds.
Orlando Bennett obtained a personal record of 13.08 seconds to win the silver, while his Jamaican compatriot, Tyler Mason, took the bronze with 13.12 seconds, equaling his best time.
Cordell tinch, incredible life story

Tinch could not have imagined this success at the end of 2022, when he worked as a mobile phone seller in his hometown, Green Bay. He had previously given up an American football scholarship to college and then a chance in the athletics in Division I, due to a combination of exhaustion and academic problems. During the three-year break from athletics, he worked as a cable installer and in a toilet paper factory.
“I don't think I would have arrived where I am now if I didn't take that break to find myself,” Tinch said before the World Championships. “Self -finding was the most important part of the whole process. Simply, at that time, I don't think I was a very happy person,” he continued.
In 2023, encouraged by his mother and his close friend, he returned to the track at Pitt State and impressed a lot enough to become a professional athlete. However, an operation suffered in the middle of the season cut the momentum and prevented it from obtaining a place in the US team for the Paris Olympics. He missed qualifying for games for one place at the US Olympic selections, although he recorded a time that would have brought his silver to Paris.

This season, however, he dominated his sample, and the extraordinary time of 12.87 seconds, recorded in the Diamond League stage in Shanghai/Keqiao in May, placed on the fourth place in the ranking of the fastest athletes in the history of the 110 m fences.
