Aleksander Łukaszenko about Poland. “We want to go there, but tractors”


Lukashenko stated that Polish societies and Belarus should not be perceived as enemies, but emphasized that Warsaw, according to his opinion, made unfounded allegations against Belarus. He added that despite the difficulties, Belarus would like to focus on building relations based on cooperation, not conflict.

Criticism of NATO activities and peace declarations
The President of Belarus expressed his concern with the decisions of Poland and the Baltic States in the field of military. In an interview with the magazine “Razwiedczik”, they criticized their exit from the Ottawa Convention regarding the ban on the use of anti -personnel mines and increased defense expenses in NATO countries.
Lukashenko, however, assured that his country has no aggressive intentions. “We want to go there, but tractors, not tanks” He said, emphasizing Belarus's peaceful intentions.
“We are open to dialogue. We should build bridges, not the walls” – he said.

Polish-Belarusian relations
From 2021, Belarus has destabilized the situation on the border with Poland, directing groups of illegal migrants from Asia and Africa countries. In response to these activities, Poland expanded the security system on the border with Belarus, and is also working on further strengthening them in the event of military threats, including as part of the “Targe East” project.
