In collaboration with officers from the Romanian Land Forces, the American delegation has started planning the construction of the new objective, the modern tank polygon, which will include modernized infrastructure, advanced target systems and communications to increase the realism and interoperability of the exercises.
“This collaboration marks another important step in strengthening the cooperation in the field of security between the US and Romania and for the guarantee that our forces remain prepared, capable and stronger,” He sent the US Embassy to Bucharest.
At Smârdan already works a polygon
At Smârdan already operates a polygon at NATO standards, recently modernized with an investment of over 6 million euros supported by the state. Located 15 kilometers from Galați, the military objective, established in 1951, covers 10,000 hectares and can accommodate hundreds of soldiers.
The polygon is frequently used for complex infantry, tanks, chemical troops or air firing, including for large NATO maneuvers.
The plans for the construction of the new objective coincide with the works to erect the new military base from Mihai Kogălniceanu.
