Three quarters of the advanced students consider internships in the IT company the best way to acquire professional skills

According to T1*, in matters of vocational training and development, young people prefer practice: 76.3 % of students of technical specialties believe that internships and participation in real projects are the best way to prepare for employment.

Analysts came to such conclusions on the basis of a survey among participants in the summer IT camp, which the holding has been holding for the second year in a row.

Given the increased competition among Junior specialists, the emphasis on the acquisition of practical skills in the context of real business increases the chances of employment. Respondents noted that the involvement of young employees in the initiative to develop within the company may become one of the decisive factors when choosing the desired place of work.

In total, students from different cities of the country took part in the survey within the educational intensity of T1: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Ryazan, Izhevsk, Novosibirsk and others. Beginning specialists answered questions related to their vision of their own career prospects in the industry and preparation for entering the labor market. So, at the start of a professional path for young IT -schools, experienced mentors and the ability to work with interesting tasks were especially important – these factors were called the key 73.8 % and 63.1 % of respondents, respectively. And the high level of salary has become a priority for only a quarter of students.

At the same time, most children are counting on the rapid promotion of the career ladder: almost 80 % are sure that five years after the start of work, they will be able to occupy a Senior position or leadership position.

The most popular areas for professional development in students were the development of according to (42.5 %) and data analytics (19.4 %). It is also noteworthy that more than 70 % of IT specialties want to build a future career in their hometown or regional center, and only every third respondent is being conceived about the move to one of the technological capitals-Moscow or St. Petersburg.

“The data obtained confirm the general trend for the formation of a new technological reality and signal the maturity of the country's IT emission,” commented Ekaterina Kolesnikova, deputy general director of the T1 IT HR.

IT camp T1 is a free educational intensity for students of technical and IT specialties from all over the country. This year, the program consisted of online learning, teamwork and full-time finals with project protection, as a result of which the best students received certificates, as well as offers in T1. According to the results of the final stage, which took place on August 28 at the same time in three cities-Moscow, Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg-90 participants received invitations to paid internship at IT Holding T1.

*The survey was conducted among 160 students of Russian universities from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Ryazan, Izhevsk, Novosibirsk and other cities.
