Starting from 2026, maternity leave will be taken into account in the insurance experience of Russians without restrictions.

In Russia, the calculation of the insurance period will be changed. It will take into account periods of parental leave of up to one and a half years without limitation, reports the telegram channel of the Russian government.

Until now, the insurance period required for calculating a pension, in addition to periods of work, included time spent caring for children up to one and a half years, but not more than 6 years in total. This allowed the care of only 4 children to be taken into account. The new decision will increase the pension size of parents with five or more children.

“The procedure for calculating the insurance period for the birth of two or more children in the event of a multiple pregnancy has also been clarified. Now the periods of care for each such child up to 1.5 years will be summed up taking into account their actual duration. For example, caring for twins for a year and a half will give the parent 3 years of insurance coverage», — explained in the press service.
