The bus was part of the wedding convoy that went from the bride's family home to the residence of her future husband. According to Radio Nigeria, the driver, without knowing the area, tried to drive through a damaged bridge, which the villagers took place with sand and stones.
– Residents used over 2,000 Sand bags to repair the bridge, and yet people still die at any time – said the local parliamentarian Adam Aliy Gummi and reminded that the bridge was destroyed seven years ago in one of the largest floods that affected the castle and has never been rebuilt since that time.
The police confirmed on Sunday that seventeen bodies were found on Saturday and two people are still missing.
Road accidents are frequent on the poorly maintained Nigeria roads. In about 9570 accidents recorded last year, 5421 people were killed in accordance with federal traffic safety statistics.
