Mark Rutte about the meeting of the Coalitions willing in Paris. “May prejudge”

– I expect that Tomorrow or soon we will have clarity As for what we can achieve together – Rutte said on Wednesday at a joint press conference in Brussels with Estonia President Alar Karis.
On Monday, the Elysee Palace announced that on September 4 in Paris in hybrid format there will be a meeting of the so -called coalitions of volunteers, i.e. countries supporting Ukraine. The meeting will apply to, among others Security guarantee for Ukraine, as well as the position of Russia, which refuses to conclude peace in a full -size war lasting since February 2022.
The meeting is to take part in, among others French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Prime Minister of Great Britain Keir Starmer, Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutte and chairwoman of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the President of Ukraine Wołodymyr Zelnski will also take part in conversations in Paris.
USA determined to end the war
Rutte assessed during the conference that Conversations on this subject are at an advanced stage. The trial, as he reminded, began in February with the initiative of US President Donald Trump, who broke the impasse in dealing with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The next step, he added, was the peak in The Hague, at which it was decided that NATO countries would spend 5 percent. GDP for defense, and then agreement on July that American supplies of weapons for Ukraine will be financed by European allies.
According to the head of NATO, the actions taken show the US determination in the pursuit of the end of the war and the unity of European countries that strengthen support for Ukraine. “The goal is to jointly develop a warranty system that will prevent the repetition of the script known from the Budapest Memorandum or Minsk agreements,” Rutte explained.
“Clarity as to a security guarantee will be necessary”
NATO Secretary General emphasized that it is also of key importance to agreeing a common position with the US administration to clearly determine the scope of American participation. – It will be important because if there are bilateral or tripartite conversations with Russia, especially between Zelanski and Putin, JAs to a safety guarantee, it will be absolutely necessary – he said.
In his opinion, the priority of Ukraine is unambiguous: to create conditions in which Russia will never be able to take even one kilometer of Ukrainian territory after the end of the war.
Rutte reminded that NATO must also take into account the impact that these conversations have on the defensive plans of the alliance, including the extended presence of land forces. In this way, he justified why allied structures participate in consultations.
