A source of Ukrainian military intelligence services (GUR) has announced that Ukraine is responsible for two sabotage operations this weekend on the Russian railway network, acts that resulted, according to the Russian authorities, with at least three dead, writes France Presse.
In a message sent to the French press agency, this source states that Gur, in cooperation with units of the Ukrainian army, made an attack on the Russian Oriol region on Saturday, and on Sunday morning one in the Leningrad region (western Russia).
Previously, AFP reported that two trains derailed on Sunday morning in different areas, in the Russian region Leningrad, killing a locomotive mechanic and disrupting railway traffic.
These incidents took place a few hours after a locomotive exploded on a railway section of the Western Oriol region on Saturday night, killing three people.
The Russian railway network has been repeatedly affected by derails, explosions and fires, which the authorities attribute to the Ukrainian sabotage.
In general, Kiev does not assume responsibility, but often greets such acts, arguing that Russia uses its railway network to transport troops and fuel to its forces in Ukraine.
