The Kremlin, through the voice of the spokesman Dmitri Peskov, reacted on Sunday, for the first time, to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“It is up to the American authorities to determine if they are isolated episodes or a kind of tendency, which is much worse,” Peskov, on the telegram channel of Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin, quoted by the Russian daily.
“But the fact that society is extremely polarized now is true,” added Peskov.
Charlie Kirk, a close relative of Donald Trump, died on Wednesday after being shot in his throat while attending a debate at Utah Valley University. The man arrested and accused of murder is called Tyler Robinson, a 22 -year -old.
Trump has asked to apply the death penalty for the attacker, which, as the Utah's governor, Spencer Cox, has underlined in this area.
Kirk's funerals will take place at the State Farm Stadium in Arizona on September 21.
