Children injured in Austria after World War II explosive device detonates under campfire. The discovery made after the explosion

Five children between the ages of 10 and 14 were injured in northern Austria on Saturday night after a “war relic” under their campfire exploded, police said on Sunday, according to Reuters.
The children were part of a group from another area of Austria.
After the explosion, police checked another campfire site nearby and discovered a second object containing explosives, also described as a “remnants of war”. A pyrotechnic team was called to the scene to neutralize it, the police said in a statement.
“Investigations are currently underway to determine how war relics ended up under the campfire area,” the statement added.
Police said the severity of the children's injuries was not yet clear, but they were taken to a pediatric hospital in the nearby city of Linz.
Although World War II-era bombs are still found in Austria, mostly during excavation work for construction, accidents like Saturday's are rare.
