The French president flew to the overseas department of Mayott, which the Shido cyclone recently collapsed, and encountered there with not the warmest reception.
Locals accused him of inaction, lack of help and called for leaving the post.
Macron did not like the reaction of the population. In his opinion, the inhabitants of Mayott should be “happy in France” and show respect for him, despite difficult times.
