On Friday, the Sejm appointed Mariusz Haładyj – the current head of the General Prosecutor's Office – as a new president of the Supreme Audit Office. 421 deputies voted for his candidacy, there were four against and six deputies abstained.

On August 30, the six -year term of office of the President of the Supreme Audit Office Marian Banas. Two candidates were submitted for his successor. A group of deputies representing the PiS club proposed Tadeusz Dziuba, former PiS MP and former Vice President of the Supreme Audit Office. The candidacy of Mariusz Haładyj, president of the General Prosecutor's Office, was submitted by the Sejm Marshal Szymon Hołownia, who assured that he consulted with government representatives in this case.

On Monday, candidates for the President of the Supreme Audit Office: Tomasz Dziuba and Mariusz Haładyj were publicly heard by parliamentarians, experts and representatives of social organizations. Haładij emphasized that the Supreme Audit Office should be a public finance guard and a state auditor in terms of systemic.

He also pointed out that NIK controls are currently focusing on a very formal abnormalities. Meanwhile – in his opinion – purposefulness, efficiency, efficiency or saving should be tested. – The measure of the effectiveness of the Supreme Audit Office should be effectiveness in detecting serious abuses, and on the other hand such a change in the functioning of public institutions that a citizen felt these changes in everyday life – said Haładyj.

He also postulated the use of artificial intelligence to build an early warning system.

Just before the vote, PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński announced that he was authorized to withdraw the candidacy of Tadeusz Dziuba as president of the Supreme Audit Office. – After talking to Tadeusz Dziuba, a long -term employee of the Supreme Audit Office, a distinguished political activist I was authorized to withdraw his candidacy – emphasized Kaczyński.

Mariusz Haładyj was born in 1978. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration of the Catholic University of Lublin, he also completed postgraduate studies in the field of company law at the University of Warsaw.

From 2019, Haładyj was the president of the General Prosecutor's Office, which represents the State Treasury and state legal entities in the most complex trials and negotiations, and issues opinions in matters of significant value and importance to the interests of the state. He was appointed by the then Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, commenting on the candidacy of Haładyja, emphasized that he values ​​his independence very much throughout his political career. As he pointed out, it was thanks to Haładyj that it was possible, among others charges against the so -called envelope elections. – (Haładij) also showed a very civic attitude when it was tried to introduce the so -called Lex TVN – he said. – The remarks prepared by the prosecutor's office allowed the protection of independent media in Poland (…) he was also the person who tried to prevent the entries in the contract very unfavorable from the point of view of Polish interests, which concerned the construction of a nuclear power plant – noted the prime minister.
