The Ministry of National Defense has published a regulation in which it was clearly explained who would be obliged to appear for military qualification in 2026. Which may surprise some, the qualification may also cover 50-year-olds.

In total, as many as 235,000 people are to receive from the Polish army a call for appearance for military qualification. This is the result of the ordinance of the Minister of National Defense published in the Journal of Laws of 27 August 2025 on conducting military qualifications in 2026. It specified in which candidates the army intends to appoint to the army.
As written in the regulation, “the purpose of military qualification is to assess physical and mental ability to active military service about 235,000 people.”

As the local government portal explains, the date of military qualification announcement in Poland was set for January 16, 2026. The qualification time was set for the period from February 2, 2026 to April 30, 2026.

Who can expect a call to the army?
- Men born in 2007
- Men from 2002–2006 who do not have a specific category of military service capacity,
- Persons recognized in 2024–2025 as temporarily unable to serve, if the period of incapacity ends before the end of qualifications in 2026,
- persons who submit a request to change the category of abilities before completing the qualification,
- Women from 1999–2007 who have education or qualifications useful in the army. It was indicated that this applies above all to graduates and students of medical, veterinary, sea or aviation faculties,
- Women performing professions relevant to defense, such as: psychologist, IT specialist, laboratory diagnostician,
- volunteers, i.e. adults (from 18 years old), who voluntarily applied for qualifications
- People with an unregulated attitude to military service until the end of the calendar year in which they are 60 years old if they are not granted the category of abilities.
The exact dates of military qualification in 2026 will be announced on January 16 by the Ministry of National Defense.
