Natural monopolies, infrastructure and bureaucracy are the main challenges of Ukraine on the way to the EU
The main priorities of Ukraine on the path to European integration are the restoration of physical infrastructure, the rethinking of the regulatory policy of natural monopolies and the participation of international financial institutions in reconstruction. The CEO of Metinvest Yuri Ryzhenkov said this at the EU-Ukraine: On the Road to URC2025 in Brussels.
According to him, the economy is the infrastructure, so the task of Ukraine is not just to restore it, but to make it better and more modern. He also stated that Metinvest was ready to take an active part in infrastructure projects.
Changes also need the regulation of natural monopolies: you need to get rid of bureaucracy and introduce a new transparent regulation – this is absolute priority in the process of joining the European Union, SEO Metinvest noted.
Also, according to him, Ukraine needs the involvement of international financial institutions in renewal projects – because they create a certain vote of trust, which encourages other financial institutions to participate.
