Nicuşor Dan believes that “Romania is safer than other, even European countries”. Information services have influenced the political game
President Nicuşor Dan wanted to point out that one of the best things that happen in Romania is that the country is “much safer” than other European states and spoke about the stakes of appointments at the top of information services.

In an interview on B1 TV, President Nicușor Dan expressed his point of view on several sensitive aspects regarding the segument of citizens in Romania, the role of information services and their involvement in the political life in Romania and the stake expected at their peak.
Romania is safer than other countries
The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, wanted to point out that, despite the structural problems in the Romanian society, there are also positive aspects that must be recognized, such as the fact that Romania remains one of the safest countries in Europe, due to the efficiency of public order and security services.
“There are also good things that are happening in Romania. For example, Romania is a very safe country. Yes, it is. On the street, in the evening, in most places in Romania, Romania is a much safer country than other countries, even European. And this is due to the services and structures of the Ministry of Interior. There are good things”, said Nicuşor Dan.
Information services and politics
During his intervention, a delicate theme was also addressed, related to the involvement of information services in political life. Although he admitted that he did not hold all the information, he recognized the existence of an influence of these structures in the political decisions of the last decades.
“On the issue of services, without having the complete information until now, yes, there was an interference, in say, the political game, over the years”, said the president.
Asked if the services wanted to become political actors themselves, Nicușor Dan appealed to the shade, explaining that there are interests and connections that have developed in time between various people and structures.
“There are interests, there are connections between people, there are business interests, things on various degrees, up to a certain legitimate level”,
he said, emphasizing the importance of an effective civil control over the services, so that they remain within the limits set by the Constitution.
“The question you ask me is about civil control, on services, so that the society is sure that they deal with the Constitution area, the attributions that the Constitution gives. This is the important stake of a civil boss.”he explained.
Also related to this subject, the head of state mentioned that the discussions regarding the appointment of new services are not over and that there will be a real consultation with the political parties before the proposals arrive in Parliament: “It is a discussion that started. You will see the result. It will be a proposal followed. It will be discussed before the vote in Parliament.”
