The new manager of Nottingham Forest, Ange Postecoglou, said he is enthusiastic about his appointment to the Premier League club and is determined to bring the team to the “deserved place” in English football.
The 60 -year -old coach replaced Portuguese coach Nuno Espírito Santo, who was dismissed on Tuesday, after a break in his relationship with the club owner, Evangelos Marinakis.
Postecoglou drove Tottenham to the first major trophy of the team since 2008, when “Spurs” won the Europa League in May, but was dismissed in June, after a disappointing 17th place in the Premier League last season.
Ange Postecoglou has big plans at Nottingham
“I am excited and I look forward to the challenge. I am really happy to be here. This club has real ambitions and this is important to me. We have an exciting team,” Postecoglou told Forest TV before Saturday's match against Arsenal, quoted by Sportal.bg.
Nottingham, who won two consecutive European cups in 1979 and 1980, will participate in the Europa League for the first time in 30 years this season. England champion in 1978, the team obtained the promotion back to the Premier League in 2022 and entered the fourth consecutive season in the elite.
“Other clubs that have achieved promotion have fought to stay in the championship, but in a short time we return to Europe and fight for distinctions, which is a great merit of all those involved.
I have the feeling that the team wants more and this is definitely something I want. It's a truly exciting moment. I am honored, but more important is that I am determined to make sure that this football club will occupy its proper place ”, added the Australian specialist.
