The rehabilitation works of the tram line 40 on Basarabia Boulevard, for which the start order was given at the end of August, will be completed in two years, this lot has 18 kilometers, and the value of the investment amounts to 150 million euros with VAT, according to the interim mayor of the Capital, Stelian Bujduveanu.
“We are on the biggest site of the tram rail system in Bucharest. (…) We look at a work that, totaling with VAT, reaches 150 million euros, the largest investment among all the lots. (…) Tens of thousands circulate daily on Basarabia Boulevard. Buses, troilebuses, new trams, which will travel on a modern road, on a modern rail (…).
This project is part of the regional program. The money is provided by external financing and co -financing from our partners we work with, will not have any impact on the budget of Bucharest ”, said Mayor Bujduveanu, on Wednesday, during the visit to the site on Basarabia Boulevard. ”
The mayor also stated that the works on the tram lines will be stage, in order not to paralyze the circulation.
“We start from where we do not endanger even a tape, we do not change anything in the current traffic configuration. Today it has started on Bessarabia and Pallady. In the coming years you will see how the works are going, so that when we let go of a line, we will close another line,” added Stelian Bujduv
The Association of Inter -Community Development for Public Transport Bucharest – Ilfov (TPBI) announced on Thursday that, starting September 6, 2025, important changes will be held in the public transport network, as a result of the start of the modernization of the tram rails on Theodor Pallady.
Line 19 will operate on a modified route, between the terminals “Calea Vitan” and “Zețarilor”, with deviation through Mihai Bravu road, Calea Dudești, Pod Timuri Noi and Giurgiului Road.
The ship line 619 will be set up, which will run between “Titan Autobaza” and “Faur”, on the route: Theodor Pallady – Bd. 1 December 1918.
Line 27 will operate on the route “Faur” – “Unirii Square”, via Bd. 1 December 1918.
The shuttle line 627 is also introduced, with a route between “Titan Autobaza” and “Dristorului”, on Theodor Pallady and Camil Ressu Boulevard.
Line 49 will circulate between “Bessarabia Boulevard” and “Vitan Calea”, with return through the Dudești Road.
Line 640 will have an extended route, to reach “M Republic”
Line 637 will be temporarily suspended during the works.
