CPK increases the maximum speed

The establishment of the CPK concept from 2017 was such that the infrastructure adapted to 350 km per hour. According to these guidelines, as a result of tenders announced in the years 2022 – 2023, contracts for the development of project documentation for lines “y” between Warsaw, Łódź, Wrocław and Poznań. At the same time, the speed of trains exploited on it was artificially underestimated to 250 km per hour. – we read in a message at cpk.pl.
The approach of the current CPK management board is that for the full use of infrastructure capabilities, the maximum operating speed of 350 km per hour. (for the fastest trains).
The timetables will be laid basically at 320 km per hour, while it will be possible to launch the journey to 350 km per hour, if the carrier has the appropriate rolling stock and submits such an application.
“Driving at speeds up to 250 km per hour on infrastructure adapted to 350 km per hour (this was the concept implemented by the previous CPK management) would be artificial lowering parameters” – we read in the communiqué.
CPK: thanks to 350 km per hour. Shorter travel time
As we read, if a decision was made to increase the operating speed above 250 km per hour. Only after starting the line would the effect would be, among others Extending driving times and a decrease in the number of passengers who can choose, for example, road or air transport.
480-kilometer Line “Y” Warsaw – CPK – Łódź – Sieradz – Wrocław/Poznań is an investment priority for CPK.
What is very important, when maintaining a speed of 250 km at The route between Warsaw and Poznań within the “Y” lines would be uncompetitive to LK3, i.e. the existing route through Kutno and Konin, whose parameters have been improved by PKP Polish Railway Lines – explains the company.
The company emphasizes that the fastest train goes from Warsaw to Poznań today through Konin 2 hours 16 min;
– The completion by PKP PLK currently ongoing investments on this route is to shorten this time from December this year. Up to 2 hours 15 min;
– For comparison: driving at a speed of 250 km per hour On the new line – with previously assumed stops at the CPK airport, in Łódź, Sieradz and Kalisz would last – 2 hours. 19 min. Without a stop in Sieradz, it would be 2 hours. 11 min.
