European deputies voted by mistake on Tuesday, September 9, for a proposal that criticizes the Brussels strategy in Ukraine and were looking for a way to remedy the situation during the evening.

It all started with a misunderstanding between the political leaders in the European armament. The elected representatives, who meet this week in Strasbourg, examined a series of texts during the day, including one on Ukraine's negotiations, according to Le Figaro.

Several amendments were proposed to this text. These include one from a German -left -wing German MEP, who regretted “The EU militarist strategy in Ukraine. ”

Amendment “It regrets the EU militarist strategy in Ukraine, which has failed to ensure peace and undermined the global relevance of the EU.”

He also requested a “Urgent change” a EU policy, which has led Brussels and most Member States to defend Ukraine's sovereignty, provide weapons and financial aid and impose Moscow sanctions.

Such a position does not have the support of the main center-right and center-left blocks in the Parliament and did not expect to be adopted, but it was approved after the party leaders gave the green wave.

Asked about the AFP what happened, the leaders of the PPE conservatives and the S&D Socialists confirmed that they have made a mistake and want to correct their vote.

But populist groups, such as the five-star movement in Italy, were happy, greeting the vote as a victory against the “belico” position of the main current in Europe.
