Less diplomatic reacted the former great international Christophe Dugarry. The former 1998 world champion responded to critics at Deschamps' staff in the show “Rothen s'enflamme” from the RMC.
Christophe Dugarry: “Dembele's injury is primarily PSG”
According to Dugarry, the responsibility does not belong to the national team: “I am one hundred percent supporter of Deschamps. Dembélé's injury is first of all PSG. I saw him in a fragile state for years, and now he has paid the price of a long season.”
Following the thigh injury that will keep Dembélé unavailable for six to eight weeks, PSG has expressed frustration of how the national team managed the player, but Dugarry does not accept the criticisms of the Paris club.
“The manipulation that PSG is trying to implement is scandalous and disrespectful towards the national team and to Didier Deschamps. PSG is the only responsible for Dembélé's work volume,” says Dugarry.
PSG claimed that “our medical recommendations were not taken into account”
On September 7, following the injuries of Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué in the match with Ukraine, PSG requested “a more transparent and collaborative framework” to prioritize the health of its players and expressed regret that his medical recommendations “were not taken into account”.
