Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan told TVR that a slowing of economic growth is probable until mid -next year, but believes that a two -digit inflation will not be reached.
Ilie Bolojan said that the slowdown in economic growth is difficult to avoid both because of the international context and for tax reasons. He mentioned that he “does not help” the economic context in the European Union in which all the economies have lower increases, the supply chains are re -evaluated, and the customs tariffs imposed internationally have the potential to limit the economic growth.
“Internally, when you increase VAT CRSC some prices or costs are internalized by companies. This means that you decrease the purchasing power and you cannot avoid an economic slowing down. At least until next summer we will be in the situation of slowing the economic growth. Inflation has increased, but I do not think it will reach two digits (…)

Regarding the measures that could be included in the package 3 measures for budget balancing, Bolojan also referred to the increase of the retirement age for other special pensions beneficiaries than the magistrates.
“We are in the situation where we need more people in the real labor market and for this we have to increase the retirement age so that within 50-65 years the population is caught on the labor market (…) If we do not increase the retirement age, including in the special pensions area, we will not reach the new system,
Regarding the reduction of the number of positions in the administration, Bolojan still claims that an effective reduction of the number of employees is needed, not just the abolition of some unoccupied positions.
“The abolition of vacancies means that we are playing games of those who look at us. Real effects will not be (…) If we do not reduce the structural expenses, which at many mayors represent 100% of the incomes, next year the expenses will remain. The personal expenses are part of the reform measures.
Ilie Bolojan claims that in the coalition he has explicitly discussed about reducing the number of employees.
“After the discussion in the coalition and the meeting with the president, I think they all understood what the conclusions were. The others must be asked. The discussion was very clear that we must reduce the personnel expenses, and the discussion was a reduction in the number of employees by 10%,” said the Liberal.
