Adrian Năstase was ironized on the former MEP Vlad Gheorghe, who publicly requested the withdrawal of the “public utility” status for the Titulescu Foundation, the organization led by the former PSD prime minister, after the visit made by him and Viorica Dăncilă to Beijing.

Without expressing him explicitly, Adrian Nastase answered the former MEP through a post on his personal blog.

“A certain Pacalici asked to withdraw the status of public utility to the European Foundation Titulescu on the grounds that I appeared in the same picture with Putin. I guess that Pacalici will ask, for the same reason, the dismissal of President Trump (…). But maybe he thought that Titulescu, in 1934, restored the diplomatic relations with the USSR?”

The former prime minister mentioned instead the current Minister of Defense, Ionuț Moșteanu, who had also criticized him for the visit to China.

“I do not want to upset our Minister of Defense even more, but, at the reception offered by President XI, I stayed at the same table as the Chinese army chief of the Chinese Army,” concluded Adrian Nastase.

Adrian Năstase and Viorica Dăncilă, former PSD premiers of Romania, participated in the Beijing military parade on Wednesday and appeared in a group picture with Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un.

“A slap given to our allies”

Among the voices in Bucharest that criticized the decision of the two to participate in the China event, the Minister of Defense, who said that the visit made by Nastase and Dăncilă is “a slap to our allies”, but do not affect the security interests of Romania as “they represent the past” and not the present position.

“I knew about the friends and guidelines of the Danes, but they did not understand that when you represent your country at the highest level and you took some oaths, those remain in life. It seems that they succeed as the wind blows,” said Minister Ionuț Moșteanu, on Wednesday.

Adrian Năstase and Viorica Dăncilă were also criticized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu, who said that “friends with Putin do not represent us”.

In reply, Nastase said that he participated in the events in Beijing as a former dignitary “and therefore by a private person” and that “in no case” he wanted to represent the current political management.
