Experts explained whether it is possible to do something if tobacco smoke from a neighboring apartment penetrates your housing.

According to the law, smoking in your own apartment is not prohibited. However, all citizens have the right to a favorable environment free from the influence of tobacco smoke. If the neighbor’s smoking violates this right, creating discomfort and threat to health, the injured party may go to court to recover moral damage. It is important to note that smoking in common areas – on stairwells, in elevators, on spans – is prohibited by law, and for this the police can write a fine from 500 to 1500 rubles, they write “mining”.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, tobacco smoke contains more than 50 carcinogens and thousands of harmful substances. Long -term stay in such an atmosphere increases blood pressure, increases the pulse and can cause symptoms characteristic of an active smoker – from dizziness to exacerbation of chronic diseases.

Experts also pay attention to a new, poorly studied phenomenon – “tertiary smoking”. We are talking about the dangers that are caused by toxic smoke particles settled on the walls, furniture, clothes and even in ventilation systems. They can remain in the room for several days, continuing to poison the body, even if the smell has already disappeared.
