Gazprom and the Chinese National Oil and Gas Corporation (CNPC) signed a memorandum of the construction of the Siberian-2 Strength gas pipeline. The document also provides for the laying of the Soyuz-Vostok transit gas pipeline through Mongolia.
The project will supply from Russia through Mongolia 50 billion cubic meters of gas per year for 30 years. The head of Gazprom, Alexei Miller, noted that the decision on the construction of the gas pipeline was made even before the commissioning of the first “force of Siberia”, writes IA IrkutskMedia.
The gas pipeline route will be held along the Trans -Siberian Railway, which will create an infrastructure basis for the gasification of the Siberian regions, including the Irkutsk region, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Buryatia.
Additionally, the parties agreed to increase supplies at the current Siberian Siberian gas pipeline from 38 to 44 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The development of the Siberian-2 forces project began in 2020, and the signing of the memorandum brought it to a new stage of implementation.
