A dishwasher saves time and effort, but not all dishes can withstand hot water, aggressive detergents and long cycles. Some items, after such “cleaning,” lose their appearance, functionality, or even become unsafe. These simple rules will help keep your kitchen tools safe – and avoid unpleasant surprises.
What should not be washed in the dishwasher:
Wooden cutting boards and spoons
High temperature and humidity cause cracking, warping and mold in the pores of wood. It is better to wash them by hand with warm water and wipe dry immediately.
Cast iron and non-stick frying pans
The detergent destroys the protective layer of cast iron, and peels off on non-stick coatings. It is better to wash both pans with a soft sponge without abrasives and dry immediately after use.
Knives with sharp blades
Impacts against other objects during the washing process dull the blade, and moisture can cause corrosion. For knives – only hand washing and timely sharpening.
Crystal, fine glass and gold-edged tableware
Sudden temperature changes can cause cracks, and aggressive agents can erase the decor. Such dishes should be washed by hand, like a special treasure.
These rules do not limit, but protect. After all, real care for your home begins with attention to detail.
