“In the resolution, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Czech Republic condemns the criminal acts of the Russian Federation against the Ukrainian population in temporarily occupied territories. In particular, we are talking about illegal detentions, torture, violent disappearance and abductions of people, forced passportization and Russification, which set the goal of undermining Ukrainian identity and suppressing any Resistance, ”the publication wrote.
According to journalists, the document indicates the following crimes of the Russian Federation:
- mass deportations of Ukrainians, including children, with the simultaneous importation of the population from Russia;
- the destruction of cultural heritage and archives as an element of the systematic policy of extermination of Ukrainian culture;
- a change in educational programs in the occupied territories with the imposition of Russian vision of history and raising children in the spirit of militarized patriotism;
- Forced assimilation of adults, including the Russification of names and surnames, the abandonment of Ukrainian citizenship and the threat of mobilization in the Russian army against their own state.
The Czech Republic Senate emphasizes that Russia's actions are gross violations of international humanitarian law and can qualify as war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, the article says.

June 24, 2025 The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted the resolutionin which the actions of the Russian Federation against Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine were recognized as ethnic cleaning. According to paragraph 14 of the resolution, Russia carries out ethnic cleaning by forced movement, deportation and violent assimilation of Ukrainians in the occupied territories.
