The murder of Andriy Parubija in Lviv
Andrij Parubij, chairman of the Ukrainian Supreme Council in 2016-2019, died on Saturday in Lviv. The 54-year-old politician was shot in the morning in front of his home by an unknown perpetrator. The Interfax-Ukraina agency informed that eight shots were fired towards Parubija. The perpetrator rolled up with an electric bike and had a backpack of the courier of one of the delivery companies. The agency referred to the journalist Witalija Hłohołę, who, based on police sources, wrote in a telegram messenger that the bomber “was the courier (delivery service) Glovo”.
According to the information provided by the head of the Lviv regional administration of Maksym Kozycki, Parubiji died before the arrival of the ambulance.
Experts commenting on a tragic event pointed to the possible participation in the murder of Russian services.
Who was Andrij Paruby?
Andrij Parubyj was born in the city of Szeptycki (former Krystynopol and Czerwonogród) in the Lviv region. He began his political career at the District Council in Lviv, where he was a deputy, and then he became its vice -chairman.
During the revolution of dignity, he was an active participant, he served as the actual commander and leader of the tent town and the commander of the Maidan Self -Defense Departments. In 2014, he became the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (RNBIO), but he worked for less than half a year in this position.
In 2016, Parubyj was elected chairman of the Supreme Council (parliament); He held this function until August 28, 2019. He was one of the main advocates of the Act “on ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language”, adopted in April 2019.
