Vladimir Putin said for the first time in recent years that he is open to bilateral discussions with Ukraine, after previously asked for the replacement of Volodimir Zelenski before they took place. Zelenski, whom Putin falsely called an illegitimate president, said in the meantime that Kiev is prepared for any discussion to stop attacks on civil targets. The Ukrainian President, in his Nocturn video speech, said: “Ukraine maintains its proposal not to hit at least civil targets. And we are waiting for a clear answer from Moscow. We are prepared for any discussion on how to achieve this.” Putin, speaking on Russian state television, said: “We have always talked about this, that we have a positive attitude towards any initiative of peace. We hope that the representatives of the Kiev regime will feel the same.” Despite the speech, the Russian forces launched an attack during the night on the Oport City Odessa.
Tuesday's evolutions, day 1154 of the Ukraine War, LiveText:
The Russian forces have launched a massive drone attack overnight on the residential areas of the Ukrainian port Odessa from the Black Sea, triggering fires and damaging many apartments, local officials said on Tuesday morning, reports Reuters.
“The enemy targeted a residential area in a densely populated neighborhood of Odessa,” wrote Mayor Hennadi Thanov on the Telegram Messegress application. He posted images with a fire out of control and blocks of housing with broken windows and damaged facades, notes News.ro.
Regional governor Oleh Kiper said that the attack has damaged homes, civil infrastructure, an educational institution and vehicles. Emergency crews have been sent to the affected areas, and the information on victims is under clarification, Kiper said.
Odessa, with his three ports, was a frequent target of Russian attacks in the conflict for more than three years with Russia.
