Prague-Północ councilors gave a positive opinion on Thursday projects introducing night prohibition. Earlier, Bielany, Ochota and Śródmieście expressed a positive opinion. Thirteen districts are against. On Thursday, councilors of will also expressed a negative opinion.

According to the decision of the Warsaw Council, districts give opinions on two draft resolutions – the President of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski and the left councilors and the city is ours. The projects differ in the start time of the prohibition:
- The Left and the City Club is ours proposes prohibition between 22.00-6.00;
- President of Warsaw from 23.00-6.00. The presidential project also assumes a longer grace period – 3 months, and councilors – 14 days after publishing in the Public Information Bulletin of the Capital City of Warsaw.
Sales restriction is to apply in stores and at gas stations. Night prohibition will not cover restaurants, bars, pubs, etc.
On Thursday, they dealt with the matter, among others Councilors of Praga-Północ, who positively approved both projects regarding the introduction of night prohibition. One vote decided.
10 councilors voted for both projects, nine were against, no one abstained. Prague -Północ is the fourth district, which is in favor of the introduction of night prohibition (on Wednesday such a recommendation was taken by Bielany, and on Tuesday – Śródmieście and Ochota).
Councilor Wanda Grudzień presented statistics that show that local governments that have introduced alcohol restrictions are very happy and do not intend to give up the night prohibition.
She reminded that the inhabitants have paid attention to alcohol -trading stores many times, which cause disturbances to the peace of the inhabitants. She added that it was the Praga-Północ Council that was the first to appear to the City Council with the postulate of introducing the night prohibition. She appealed to the councilors to vote in accordance with the will of the inhabitants and support the introduction of a night ban on selling alcohol.
Deputy Mayor of Prague-North Anna Tomaszewska emphasized that alcohol problems and alcohol purchases are great difficulties for the residents of the district.
Councilors in Wola voted against the introduction of prohibition. In relation to two projects, thirteen councilors were against the introduction, six, and one councilor abstained.
Earlier, a councilor, non -attached Kamil Kociszewski, argued that each of these projects is important for the city's residents. He reminded that Warsaw residents had already expressed their opinion in the consultation and Warsaw barometer, in which they supported the idea of introducing prohibition. He encouraged councilors to support projects.
The chairman of the club councilors Kamil Giemza pointed out that the introduction of a ban at these hours is not prohibition, because it is not a ban on buying alcohol. – If a resident does not buy alcohol in a store because he will be late by a minute, he will go to the restaurant and buy it there. This does not solve the problem, but moves the problem elsewhere – he said.
From among 18 Warsaw districts, the fourteen gave an opinion on the idea of introducing a night prohibition in alcohol stores. However, four supported this idea.
In the years 2018-2024, about 180 municipalities in Poland introduced the night prohibition. In 30 cases, the restriction applies only to part of the commune or city. Local governments from the following voivodships: Mazowieckie, Lesser Poland and Greater Poland adopted most such provisions.
Among the large cities, the night ban throughout the area was introduced by, among others Kraków, Bydgoszcz, Biała Podlaska and Gdańsk. Prohibition only in Śródmieście applies, among others in Poznań, Wrocław, Rzeszów, Katowice, Bielsko-Biała and Kielce.
In June, Giżycko introduced the night prohibition in the tourist season. In July, the night prohibition was introduced in Słupsk, and at the beginning of August in Szczecin. (PAP)
