“The military works wonders with what they have,” says the Defense Minister. Miruta admits that NATO's help is needed

The Minister of National Defense (MApN), Radu Miruţă, declared on Saturday, in Constanţa, after analyzing the situation generated by the explosions of marine drones in the Port of Constanţa and off the Black Sea, that Romanians can still trust the Romanian Army, stating that the military “do wonders with what they have at their disposal”, reports Agerpres.
Miruţă was asked, in a press conference, if Romanians feel safe and if they can still trust the Ministry of Defense.
“Certainly yes, because the soldiers of the Romanian Army must be judged if they do or not do everything that concerns them, with what they have at their disposal. I, as Minister of Defense, after six months, as a software engineer, who understand what is needed and see what the Romanian Army has, I guarantee you that the soldiers of the Romanian Army do miracles with what they have at their disposal. Do not ask the soldiers to defend with their bare hands against technologies that cost billions of euros. Anyway they do it, with the yield they have, considering this difference in capabilities”, said the Minister of National Defense.
The MApN representative claimed that steps are being taken to improve the equipment of our country's army.
“Every week there are technical discussions about the possibility of improving the operations that the Romanian Army carries out in the area, but the limit is the technical capability available (…) Now, after we proved that what we requested, we ordered in Romania, I went to NATO again and said bluntly that Romania has the legitimacy to ask for something like this. We are not asking to be helped by doing nothing, but we observed what the threats look like, we saw what the shortages are, first we ordered we, as a national responsibility, absolutely everything we need to solve this problem by ourselves”, declared Radu Miruţă.
The President of Romania, Nicusor Dan, had a similar message, also in Constanța, at the end of a meeting in Constanța in which he analyzed with the leadership of the army and the intervention services the causes of the incident on Friday when a marine drone exploded in the Port of Constanța.
“So far I don't see any human error. It's a matter related to a new technology to which we adapt through the endowment, which I hope we do faster,” Nicușor Dan said about the reasons for Friday's incident.
“Constanța port should have had equipment to see any unidentified object that enters its range. It is a new technology and we all have to adapt,” explained the president.
