A large majority of Ukrainians are in favor of a ceasefire, but only if clear security guarantees can be offered, it appears from a recent poll, informs DPA, taken by Agerpres.

Of the 1,600 Ukrainians interviewed, 75% consider security guarantees from Europe and the United States as a precondition for cessation of hostilities, Group rating said.

According to the survey, 82% of the respondents consider negotiations to be a realistic way to stop the war. Of these, 62% are favorable to the involvement of other countries to help mediate a compromise, while 20% support the conduct of direct negotiations with Moscow.

Of the interviewees, 59% were pronounced for the cessation of battles and the search for a compromise, and 20% wanted the war to continue the total recovery of the Donbas region and the Crimean Peninsula, and only 13% until the return to the demarcation before February 23, 2022, which would exclude Crimea and Donbas.

Group rating conducted the survey on 1,600 people in Ukraine, between August 21 and 23.
