Persian Gulf countries evacuate refineries. They fear Iran's retaliation


As reported by, among others, Bloomberg, energy facilities in the Middle East were evacuated on Wednesday. This is a response to threats from Iran to attack their infrastructure “in the coming hours.”
Iran issued a warning on Wednesday regarding several oil installations in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, Iranian state media reported. These include the Saudi Samref refinery and the Jubail petrochemical complex, the Al Hosn gas field in the UAE, and the Qatari installations: the Mesaieed petrochemical complex, Mesaieed Holding Company and the Ras Laffan refinery.

“These centers have become immediate and legitimate targets and will be attacked in the coming hours. Therefore, all citizens, residents and employees are requested to immediately leave these areas and move to a safe distance without any delay,” the statement said. This came shortly after the attack on Iranian oil installations in South Pars and Asaluyeh.

After Iran ordered the evacuation of workers from installations in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar, oil prices rose by more than 5 percent, to $108. per barrel. Wall Street bank Citi warns that if Iran does carry out an attack, We are facing a price of $200. per barrel.
Such a scenario is also possible if the Strait of Hormuz is closed for a longer period until June.
