The United States has approved the sale of Patriot anti -aircraft defense systems and other weapons to Denmark, which intends to support Ukraine in the war against Russia, the German DPA agency, quoted by AGERPRES, on Saturday.
The State Department approved the contract worth $ 8.5 billion, which includes six launchers, radar systems and missiles.
Denmark and other NATO member states have set out to deliver to Ukraine advanced weapon systems to help them increase their defense capacity against Russian attacks.
As Denmark does not operate patriotic systems, it must buy them from the US. The Netherlands, in turn, bought Patriot missiles to strengthen Ukraine's air defense capacity.
In recent months, Kiev has constantly requested patriotic systems from Western allies in order to better protect their cities from Russian air blows.
The Russian army currently controls about 20% of the Ukrainian territory.
Russia asks Ukraine to withdraw from certain territories that continue to control partially, especially the Donetk region, as a prerequisite for cessation of hostilities. Kiev rejects this idea.
