Journalist Emilia Șercan harshly criticized, on Monday evening, the proposals made by the Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, for the management of the major prosecutor's offices, claiming that “he nominated prosecutors specialized in protecting criminals, not in investigating and sending them to court”.
The reaction comes after the Ministry of Justice officially announced the proposals for the leadership positions at the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) and the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT).
The proposals are to be sent to the CSM for advisory opinion, and the final decision belongs to the president Nicușor Dan.

“The most scandalous proposals are at the General Prosecutor's Office”
In a post on Facebook, Emilia Șercan claims that the Minister of Justice “did exactly what those who publicly lynched me expected from him”, referring to his revelations regarding Radu Marinescu's doctoral thesis.
“He nominated prosecutors specialized in protecting criminals, not in investigating and sending them to court,” wrote Șercan.
She states that “the most scandalous proposals are, by far, those from the General Prosecutor's Office”, where Cristina Chiriac was nominated for the position of general prosecutor, and Marius Voineag for the position of first deputy.
In the case of Cristina Chiriac, the journalist recalls the episode from 2017 related to the former bishop of Huși, Cornel Onilă. She was accused that when she orchestrated the blackmail case in which Onilă was the injured party, she did not sever the investigations and did not hand over the video evidence that caught the bishop having sexual relations with students at the seminary. The investigation that led to Onilă's conviction was reopened following a press investigation documented by journalists from the independent platform Să fie lăgără.
Regarding the nomination of Marius Voineag, Șercan claims that this represents “an imposition of the leadership model of the General Prosecutor's Office consecrated by the Gabriela Scutea – Bogdan Licu tandem, when the General Prosecutor's Office was de facto led by Bogdan Licu, Scutea taking care of the pigeon henhouse on the windowsills or the necessary stationery”, says Emilia Șercan.
“It is well known that Voineag is the pupil of Licu, the good boy of SRI sent from PG to CCR. Voineag, himself endorsed by SRI big time, is now expected to play exactly the role that Licu had,” the journalist continued.
