Wołodymyr Zelanski announced that next week he intends to continue talks with European leaders about the obligations he described as similar to those offered by NATO membership – informs Reuters.
According to Zełent, the architecture of future security guarantees should be transparent and understood for all parties. The President of Ukraine also expressed a desire to meet with Donald Trump to present him a Ukrainian position on this matter.
Zelanski emphasized that he expected legal security guarantees from allies that would be approved by the parliaments of individual countries. He also pointed out that Ukraine did not want a repeat from the Memorandum of Budapest from 1994, when Kiev gave up nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees, which proved to be insufficient towards Russian aggression.
Zelanski also recalled Trump's earlier words, who announced that he would give Putin a week or two to agree with the Ukrainian president before he decided about possible new actions to Russia. Zelanski announced that on Monday he intends to remind about this declaration to all interested parties.
