The use of powder detergents significantly increases the release of microplasty during the washing of synthetic tissues. Such a conclusion was made by Tomsk biologists.

Materials on the topic

According to the study, when washing 7.7 kg of new fleece items with powder, the amount of polyester microvolonoks is released, the equivalent mass of empty 1.5-liter plastic bottle. Without detergents, it is released 1.7-1.9 times less microplasty.

According to RIA Tomsk with reference to the director of the Center for the Center for Research Microplasty in the Environment of TSU Julia Frank, repeated washing significantly reduce the release of the microvolonok – tenfold.

Based on the research and statistics of Rosstat, scientists calculated that the population of Russia annually releases 1775 tons of microplasty when washing synthetic clothing. Within the framework of the project, researchers plan to carry out 50 strokes of fleece items to develop a filter for washing machines that can delay microplastics.
