PAOK paid 10.5 million euros for the Greek international Christos Zafeiris, a central midfielder of 22 years.

PAOK, the team coached by Răzvan Lucescu, made a considerable financial effort to obtain the signature of the Greek midfielder Christos Zafeiris, who in the last two and a half years has dressed the shirt of Slavia Prague.

The Saloniki team paid 10.5 million euros, but The footballer will continue at Prague by the beginning of 2026as part of the understanding. His contract with PAOK covers 4 and a half years, until December 31, 2029.

It is – by far – the most expensive transfer in PAOK's history and the most expensive acquisition in Greek football this century.

Only two transfers exceed the amount paid for Zafeiris, but those were made in 1999, when Olympiakos paid 13.5 million euros for Zlatko Zahovic, respectively 12 million for the Brazilian midfielder Giovanni.

Born in Athens, Zafeiris moved to Norway, along with family, at the age of 9. He played for the representatives of Norway in all categories of juniors and youth, but he chose to represent Greece.

He started football in Norway, in Grud, so that in January 2023 he was sold in Slavia Prague for 2.6 million euros. He played 105 matches for the Czech band, passing 25 decisive contributions (13 goals, 12 goals).

PAOK is preparing for the return of the Europa League play-off. Răzvan Lucescu's team is forced to return the result from the round with Rijeka, 0-1, to access the main phase of the competition.
