The message of Volodimir Zelenski on the Day of Independence of Moldova: “Only together, in a united Europe, we can ensure sustainable security”

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski sent a message of support to the Republic of Moldova on Wednesday, on the occasion of the Independence of the Neighbor State. The message was transmitted in English, Romanian and Ukrainian.

“Significant by the President Maia Sandu and the people of the Republic of Moldova on the occasion of Independence Day,” Zelenski wrote in a post on X.

The Ukrainian leader stressed that the relationship between the two states is one of close cooperation, against the background of the common challenges in the region. “We value the close cooperation between our nations a lot,” he said.

“Our region is deeply interconnected and, together, we must protect our peoples, states and independence. This is exactly what we do: only together, in a united Europe, we can ensure sustainable security and a decent life for all our citizens,” said the leader from Kiev.

Three European leaders are expected today in Chisinau, on the day the Republic of Moldova celebrates its independence. The visit of French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Chisinau has been confirmed last week by the France's Presidential Administration, who transmitted: “Leaders will reaffirm their full support for security, sovereignty and European path”.

“This is not only a visit, but a living connection between Europe and the Moldovan people,” said Jürgen Hardt, the spokesman for the foreign policy of the CDU party, in Germany.

“Never one of our allies will remain alone in front of the Russian aggression,” he said, quoted by Politico.
