Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan told Antena 3 on Wednesday that President Nicușor Dan made him a request “on the magistrates' component” in the meeting they had at the Victoria Palace on the stage of coalition on the second package of government reforms.
The prime minister revealed what request did President Nicușor Dan regarding the measures referring to the pensions of the magistrates.
“The request of his on the component of magistrates, considering the proposal related to the changes in the retirement of the magistrates, was to find a formula through which to have a transition period that those who enter the new regulations, that is, would enter a standard retirement age, for 65 years, to be able to go through it. declared Ilie Bolojan.
On the other hand, he argues that “this is not the basic problem of this draft law, but the other aspects, which really solve the problems of magistrates.”
“But on this subject I had (…) a meeting in Cotroceni with the representatives of the legal institutions and the president did only exercise this legal competence to mediate between institutions when divergences appear,” continued the prime minister.
Asked if he is the president who asked him to take into account the magistrates, Bolojan replied: “On the extension component of the transition period, yes. The other aspects were not discussed-and we will maintain them as we announced publicly and as they were communicated for consultation and approval to the SCM”.
Political sources have told HotNews that the second package of the Government will be divided into five different packages to avoid a possible unconstitutionality decision. The plan is for all five packages to be adopted the same day, say the hotnews sources.
According to sources, one of the five packages will contain the draft law that changes the magistrate's retirement and retirement age.
The measures prepared by the Government have aroused the dissatisfaction of the employees in the sector. After the 15 Courts of Appeal in Romania, which announced on Tuesday that they suspend their activity, Wednesday and magistrates from several courts and judges in the country announced that they are joining the protest.
“I have a great respect for the magistracy, for the independence of justice, things that cannot be commented, both opposite the importance of this institution, but also the need to ensure real independence, and the problem we treat are negative accumulations, injustices, practically compared to other social categories, which cannot be denied and which have been accumulated in this year,”
