The selection procedure for the position of interim general director of the National Directorate of Forests Romsilva has ended, Jean Vişan being elected by the Board of Directors for this position, according to a statement of the Ministry of Environment, informs AGERPRES.

“It is for the first time that such a procedure is carried out in a framework of full transparency. The interviews were registered and published, and before the final decision there was also a public debate along with the representatives of the civil society. Buzoianu.

Throughout his career, Jean Vişan coordinated forest regeneration projects and modernization of forest infrastructure, holding management positions at central and local level within Romsilva.

“The expectations are clear: a transparent, responsible management and in the interest of protecting the national forest heritage. It is important that the high standards established by this process are respected and consolidated in the next period,” added Diana Buzoianu.

Who is Jean Vișan

The procedure for selection of the general manager, with a provisional term for five months, was initiated by the Board of Directors on August 11, by launching the announcement and communicating the procedure. Until the deadline, 25 people were registered, of which 17 met the conditions of participation. The 17 eligible candidates were interviewed transparently, by the Board of Directors, during several days, subsequently a ranking being established.

Jean Vişan are 48 de ani, este inginer silvic, licenţiat în anul 2001 al Facultăţii de Silvicultură şi Exploatări Forestiere a Universităţii „Transilvania” din Braşov şi a obţinut titlul de doctor în silvicultură în anul 2017. De-a lungul carierei, a deţinut mai multe funcţii în cadrul Ocolului Silvic Vintilă Vodă şi Direcţiei Silvice Buzău. Since 2006, he has held several execution and management positions within the Central of the National Forest Administration – Romsilva, such as the head of service within the Investment – Mechanization and Director of the Regeneration – Development. It was also, for six months, in 2020, director of the Buzau Forestry Directorate.

Vişan holds several certifications, including in the field of designing and executing land improvements, public procurement management and in preventing and combating corruption. His appointment comes after, earlier this month, Minister Diana Buzoianu appointed four new members in the Board of Directors.

The National Directorate of Forests – Romsilva manages about 4.2 million hectares of forests the public property of the state or in other forms of property, on a contractual basis.
