These perennials are in your garden forever: 5 of the most durable flowers – they bloom luxuriantly for decades and do not require care

If you want to create a flowery garden that doesn't require much maintenance, look to long-lasting perennials. Both amateur gardeners and landscape designers look for these plants when planning new flower beds, writes the GardeningKnowHow portal (16+).

Although there is no complete list of long-lived perennials, several proven species have earned popularity among gardeners, providing them with decades of delight.

Peonies

Peonies are one of the most beloved perennial plants, and for good reason. Peony blooms are a sight to behold in late spring and early summer. On average, most peonies can easily survive in the garden for at least 50 years. They require minimal care, the main thing is to plant them in well-drained soil in a sunny area.

Daylilies

Daylilies can live in a flower garden for decades. Due to their wide variety of colors, daylilies are a good choice for creating flower beds.

Hosts

Hostas are an extremely popular shade garden plant. With proper care, an adult hosta can live 20-30 years or longer, and their ability to grow slowly over time makes them an excellent choice.

Roses

Many bush roses are incredibly durable and disease resistant. With proper care, including regular watering and fertilizing, mature rose bushes can bloom for decades.

Hellebore

These sophisticated plants can live 30–40 years. Hellebores require minimal attention and bloom at a time of year when there is little life in the garden – late winter and early spring.
