Experts prevented the import of fruit infected with melon fly from Kazakhstan. This is reported by the regional Rosselkhoznadzor.
Experts checked 20 tons of melons imported by vehicles from a neighboring country. A laboratory study revealed in samples of insects and larvae of a dangerous quarantine pest.
The melon fly damages the seeds and fruits of melons, pumpkin family plants (melons, watermelons, cucumbers, pumpkin). In places of pulp of pulp, viral and fungal diseases are developing. After the development of larvae, the fetus begins to rot.
The import of infected products was prohibited. The owners of the melon processed them “permitted by drugs that deprive insects of viability.”
