Mind and body, an ignored relationship
We are disconnected by our own body and we remember it only when the pain or disease make their presence felt. At the interviews Adevărul, psychologist Aloma Odogwu draws attention to the indestructible connection between mind and body and the fact that health begins inside.
“There is interconnection between the body and the mind, demonstrated by studies. The mind and body matter because they form a whole. We cannot approach them separately“Says Aloma.
It gives the example of fear, an emotion that leaves physical traces: “To me, and to many of my customers, we are afraid in the abdominal area. Emotions find their place in the body, and it sends us clear messages. ”
Simple practices for balance
The psychologist explains that the mind-body balance does not belong to complicated techniques, but of small habits, integrated into everyday life.
“For mind-body alignment are simple practices, which is important to understand the back mechanics. What happens in emotional states? We run or fight. To bring balance, we need exercises such as anchoring or diaphragmatic breathing“, she details.
One of the most effective methods is the breathing 4-4-4: “Inspire, maintains, breathes. This rhythm supports the return to the senses. Sitting on the chair, with feet on the floor, with hands on the surface of the chair, it is enough to take a while for silence and sensations.”
The power of thought: real healing
One of the strongest arguments made by Aloma Odogwu is the personal self-healing experience.
“For five years I had breast nodules. I started practicing guided visualization and telling myself that I am healthy, that I have nothing. Last year, at medical investigations, there was nothing. I experienced this self-healing only by the way of thinking ”, confesses the psychologist.
His case demonstrates, she says, that the mind plays a direct role in the healing process: “My body is a response to what is my mind, and my mind is the answer to how my body is.“
How we look at age and fear of old age
Another sensitive chapter is the fear of aging. The psychologist believes that social labels limit us and remove us from inner freedom.
“We live with some labels that make us lose what the children have: the playful spirit. We forget to be free, curious, to experiment. If I say about myself I am old, that memory leaves me, so I will be,” he warns the interview for the truth.
Instead, she proposes another angle: “Regardless of age, the possibilities are infinite. If I access the conscious body, I begin to see what happens to me and discover the freedom of my story. ”
The freedom to reinvent us
Beyond rules and conventions, the key to balance is in us. Aloma Odogwu emphasizes the importance of assuming responsibility for our emotional and mental states:
“We are responsible for these states. My emotion can be enthusiasm, and then I feel vitality, power, energy. The way we look at ourselves directly influences our health”Says psychologist Aloma Odogwu in the interview with Antoaneta Banu.
For her, the conclusion is simple: the mind and body are not two separate entities, but a unique mechanism, which works best when listening and harmonized.
