The US ambassador to France, Charles Kushner, denounced on Sunday “lack of sufficient actions” of French President Emmanuel Macron against anti-Semitism, reiterating the criticisms of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, AFP reports.

In a letter to the head of the French state and obtained by AFP on Sunday, the American ambassador expressed “deep concern about the growth of anti-Semitism in France and the lack of sufficient actions from the (French) to fight.”

This criticism comes just a few days after Benjamin Netanyahu launched a violent attack on the French president, which he accused of “feeding the anti -Semitic fire” when calling for the international recognition of the Palestine state.

A “wrong, abjection and (which) analysis will not remain unanswered,” the French presidency said at that time.

In his letter, dated Monday, the American ambassador reiterated Netanyahu's argument.

“The statements that denigrate Israel and the gestures of recognition of a Palestinian state encourage extremists, incites violence and endangers Jewish identity in France,” said Kushner, who is Jared Kushner's father, the son -in -law of US President Donald Trump.

“Today, there is no place for equivocal: anti -existentism is anti -Semitism, point,” he said.

According to the American ambassador, “it does not pass a day in France without the Jews being assaulted on the streets, the synagogues and schools being damaged and the business held by the Jews to be vandalized. Even the Ministry of the Government.

The representative of the United States in France is also outraged that “almost half of the French young people have never heard of the Holocaust.”

“The persistence of such ignorance makes us, therefore, to question the school syllabus in the French schools,” he adds.

By praising the actions of President Trump in this regard, his ability to “fight anti -Semitism, as long as our leaders have the will to act”, the American ambassador to France in urged the French president “to act with determination”.

France has announced that it will recognize Palestine

At the end of July, Macron announced that France will recognize the state of Palestine at the UN General Assembly. Subsequently, over 10 Western countries asked other countries around the world to do the same.

The UN General Assembly, scheduled for September, ends exactly on September 23, the Jewish New Year and the deadline for which Benjamin Netanyahu asked Emmanuel Macron “to replace weakness with action, reconciliation” in the fight against anti -Semitism.

Anti -Semitic acts are increasing in France since October 7, 2023, the day of Hamas unprecedented attacks against Israel and the outbreak of war in Gaza.

The context is particularly delicate, because France houses the largest Jewish community in Western Europe, with about 500,000 people, as well as a very large Arab-Muslim community, deeply worried about the difficult situation of Palestinians in Gaza, AFP comments.
