The Ukrainian company Interpipe acquired the ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) plant in Roman. The Ukrainian group has approximately 9,500 employees and operates in dozens of countries.

The transaction took effect on March 31, 2026, Interfax writes. According to a press release issued on Thursday, the transaction represents an important step in the company's strategy to expand its presence in Europe and strengthen its position in key regional markets.
It is stated that the AMTP plant in Roman is a well-known producer of seamless steel pipes for customers throughout Europe and beyond.
At the same time, it is expected to bring greater efficiency, optimized processes and higher quality products, as well as strengthen customer relations through the support of the company's global network.
“The factory in Roman is our first production platform in the European Union and internationally, marking a historic step in our development.
It perfectly complements our vertically integrated, value-added operations in Ukraine, strengthening both geographic diversification and technological integration,” said Luca Zanotti, CEO of Interpipe, a pipe and wheel manufacturing company.
The plant in Roman, founded in 1951, produces seamless steel pipes for industries such as energy and construction.
Interpipe, the company that acquired it, is a Ukrainian producer of pipes and railway products, active in 70 countries, with around 9,500 employees and several industrial units.
The company's structure includes five industrial assets: Interpipe Nyzhniodniprovsky Tube Rolling Plant, Interpipe Novomoskovsk Pipe Plant, Interpipe Niko Tube, Dnipropetrovsk Vtormet and the electric steel complex Dniprosteel, which operates under the Interpipe Steel brand.
The final owner of Interpipe Limited is the Ukrainian businessman and philanthropist Victor Pinchuk, together with his family members.
In November 2025, the European Commission approved the transaction by which Metinvest, the company of Ukrainian billionaire Rinat Ahmetov, will take over ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iasi, the former Tepro Iasi factory.
The transaction was officially notified in Brussels on October 21, 2025, when Metinvest BV (Netherlands) and Smart Steel Limited (Cyprus) announced their intention to buy 100% of the shares of ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iasi, a company owned by ArcelorMittal SA (Luxembourg).
Before this operation, the Iași plant was 99.96% controlled by ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Holding BV.
