The former president of Romania captured these moments in a few photos posted on his Facebook page, accompanied by the simple and meaningful message: “50 years together. Our family witnessed it.”
Maria and Traian Băsescu got married in 1975 and together they have two daughters, Ioana and Elena, and the latter gave them three grandchildren.
The golden wedding, an anniversary that dates back to the Middle Ages, is accompanied by traditions such as the exchange of a new row of wedding rings and the transmission of the old ones to the next generations, a symbol of continuity and bonds that transcend time.
