The Russian defense shot down a drone on Saturday, and the specialists examine the fragments from the ground, the mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin announced, according to Reuters.
Several airports in the central area of Russia have suspended their operations due to concerns about the safety of the air space, according to the specifications made by the Russian authority in the air transport sector, Rosaviatsia.
In a number of ads made over several hours, Rosaviatsia said the operations were suspended at Izhevsk airports, Nijni Novgorod, Samara, Penza, Tambov and Ulyanovsk, to the East and Southeast of Moscow.
At the airport in St. Petersburg, the second largest city in Russia, delays were registered with dozens of flights, the airport officials said, quoted by the news agencies in the country.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that its units intercepted and destroyed 32 drones, within three hours, in several areas of the center of the country.
On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said he “reaffirmed his availability for any meeting format” with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. However, the perspective of such a summit seems more and more distant, according to Reuters.
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that the organization of a Putin-Zenski meeting is “as if you were trying to mix the oil with vinegar,” according to AFP. The leader of the United States has said that he is unhappy with how peace efforts are going and estimated that in two weeks he will know if progress is possible, a context in which he again evoked the possibility of “massive sanctions” against Russia.
